Alabama CHOOSE Act questions
Is Human Program an approved CHOOSE Act provider?
β
Yes. Human Program is on Alabama's approved education service provider list as a nonpublic K5-12 online learning program. We send you the invoice, you submit it in ClassWallet, and your CHOOSE Act funds pay for the program directly.
Do we have to leave our cover school?
+
No. Your student stays registered with your cover school or church school exactly as they are today, and you stay the home educator. Human Program is the online learning program your student uses every day.
How does the CHOOSE Act actually pay for it?
+
Your CHOOSE Act funds live in a ClassWallet account the state set up for your student. We send you an invoice, you submit it in ClassWallet, and ClassWallet pays Human Program from those funds. You never front the money, and you never enter a card.
Does the award really cover the whole program?
+
Yes. A CHOOSE Act award covers the Home School program in full, with room left over for other approved expenses like books and curriculum materials.
What grades does the Home School program cover?
+
Grades 2 through 12. Your student is placed by what they actually know, so they start where they are, not where a grade chart says they should be.
Is this the same as the Alabama ESA?
+
Yes. The CHOOSE Act is the Alabama law that created education savings accounts. The award, the ESA, and the ClassWallet account are all parts of the same program.
We missed this year's application window. What now?
+
Applications open again in January. Finish your application now and we'll hold your student's seat, email you a walkthrough of the CHOOSE Act, and tell you the moment the window opens.
Are classes live at set times?
+
No. Your student learns at their own pace, on your family's schedule. There are no fixed class times and no bell schedule.
Can my student catch up?
+
Yes. Your student starts at their actual level and advances as fast as they master the material, so catching up is built into how the program works.
